The world is divided into different time zones. Some countries only have a single time zone, while others have many. Suppose you are living in the United States, you probably know that the country observes six time zones: Hawaii-Aleutian time, Alaska time, Pacific time, Mountain time, Central time, and Eastern time (EST). Alaska

Time zones: Hawaii-Aleutian time and Alaska time

Before, Alaska had four time zones, but in 1983, the government consolidated the time zones to two: Hawaii-Aleutian time for the westernmost Aleutian Islands and Alaska time for the rest of the state.

Arizona

Time zones: Mountain Standard Time and Mountain time

Almost all of Arizona observes Mountain time, even if it is Mountain Daylight Time or Mountain Standard Time in the state. Unlike Arizona, Navajo Nation observes Daylight Saving Time. Arizona was able to abolish DST based on the passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, giving each state or territory the right to opt-out of Daylight Saving Time.

Florida

Time zones: Central time and Eastern time

The Eastern and Central time zones in Florida divide along the Apalachicola River. Eastern time is called "fast time." Meanwhile, Central time is called "slow time."

Idaho

Time zones: Pacific time and Mountain time

The Time Zone Bridge in Riggins, which spans the Salmon River, divides the Pacific Time Zone from the Mountain Time Zone.

Indiana

Time zones: Central time and Eastern time

Indiana was in the Central Time Zone, but in 1969, the federal government established time zone boundaries causing the six counties in the northwestern part of Indiana and six in the southwestern section in the Central Time Zone.

Kansas

Time zones: Mountain time and Central time

Four counties in Kansas observe Central time while four counties on the state's western border are on Mountain time.

Kentucky

Time zones: Central time and Eastern time

About 60% of the state observes Eastern time because Louisville switched to Eastern time from Central in 1961.

Michigan

Time zones: Central time and Eastern time

The state of Michigan used to be on Central time. However, it shifted to Eastern time over the 20th century.

Nebraska

Time zones: Mountain time and Central time

Nebraska's western section of the Cornhusker State, together with counties in the state's panhandle, follows the Mountain Time Zone. On the other hand, most of the state's population is in the Central Time Zone.

Nevada

Time zones: Pacific Time and Mountain Time

Most of the state observes the Pacific time, except for West Wendover, which observes Mountain time.

North Dakota

Time zones: Mountain time and Central time

North Dakota's southwestern portion of the High Plains state follows Mountain time, while the remaining areas of the state observe Central time.

Oregon

Time zones: Pacific time and Mountain time

Most of the northwestern Pacific state follows Pacific time, except for the northern part of Malheur County, which observes Mountain time.

South Dakota

Time zones: Mountain time and Central time

South Dakota's Sioux Falls observes the Central Time Zone while the state's second-largest city follows the Mountain Time Zone.

Tennessee

Time zones: Central time and Eastern time

Most of the areas in Tennessee are in the Central Time Zone. Meanwhile, Chattanooga is in the Eastern Time Zone.

Texas

Time zones: Mountain time and Central time

Only El Paso and Hudspeth counties observe Mountain time.
