Territories observing the time zone were primarily in Russia. More specifically, Magadan Oblast in northeastern Russia. However, this time zone is no longer used at all. Those in the time zone also called it Magadan Island Summer Time or MAGST.

During fall to winter months Magadan Time or MAGT was used, and then during Daylight Saving (spring to summer months) Magadan Summer Time or MAGST was used. However, MAGST is now used all year round by Magadan Oblast.
